Well today has already been one of those days I never want to go through again. I got a phone call from my husband around 7.15am to say he couldn’t find one of our dogs but he had heard a howl and thought she was badly hurt. I rushed upstairs to wake the children up so we could go out and look for her. Once they were ready, which took less than 10 minutes, we went to open the back gate into the woods and she came in. Unfortunately she had had a bad accident and the skin was missing on her left side. The patch was around 10″ x 18″. My husband is now at the vets with her and I’m writing this as I’m waiting for news.
11.05am
She is out of surgery (2 & 3/4 hours) and we have to wait until 2.30 to speak to the vet again.
2.45pm
Just spoken to the vet and she is up and moving around and it’s looking hopeful that she can come home later. The vet will ring us at 5.30
7.05pm
My husband got back home half an hour ago. She is stitched around three quarters of her body with 6 drains in. She is on 2 lots of antibiotics and 2 lots of pain killers, I have never felt so sorry for an animal, she looks miserable.
The vet thinks it was probably caused by barbed wire. She must have run into it and not been able to stop. I just don’t want to think about that any more.
Oh Lydia, that is so awful.
I hope she is making a full recovery now? Terrible when our pets are injured/ill – it really breaks my heart. Give a her a cyber hug from me xxx

Thank you, she is getting there slowly and we have our fingers crossed that the third operation she had will be the last
